In order to provide a calm, stress-free, safe, clean and humane environment for your pet and other borders, we require all pets over one year of age to be spayed or neutered. In addition, it is simply the politically correct and responsible thing to do when one considers the extremely tragic homeless pet crisis all over the world! Locally, in 2008, Madison County Animal Control put to death 1632 dog and puppies and 2993 cats and kittens. I do not mind cleaning up accidents, but an un-neutered male dog will urinate on everything, i.e., other dogs, bags of food, buckets of water and equipment - this is totally unnecessary! Many of the boarders enjoy "playing and running" with each other, even though there is a fence between them. However, if the dogs were not neutered, there would be more fence fighting, injuries, etc. Before boarding at the Critter Camp, many customers report that their dogs have never boarded well at other locations. I truly feel that the majority of critters do very well at the Critter Camp because of my spay/neuter policy. Many dogs even pull their owners to the front door of the kennel when they arrive for boarding.

It is a well known fact that aggression is greatly increased if a dog is not neutered. Since opening the kennel in 1994, my boarding staff and I have yet to sustain a bite wound. If a female would come into heat during her boarding stay, we would have many "stray dogs" around my kennel. Many dogs would get hit on the road or cause accidents... it would truly be a nightmare. My thanks to all of you that believe in spaying/neutering; you are part of the solution, not the part of the problem.
